Ria’s Line Up: November 24, 2013

With Thanksgiving fast approaching and here in the US it’s usually when we consider the holiday season to begin. And since thanksgiving opens up the doors to the holiday season I think it’s important we take the time to savor and reflect upon its true meaning. Yes, the turkey and pumpkin pie and maybe even the sales are great but I think Abe Lincoln had the right idea when he officially made thanksgiving a national holiday when he wrote this…this is just the first paragraph of the Thanksgiving Proclamation: The year that is drawing toward its close has been filled with the blessings of fruitful fields and healthful skies. To these bounties, which are so constantly enjoyed that we are prone to forget the source from which they come, others have been added, which are of so extraordinary a nature that they cannot fail to penetrate and soften the heart which is habitually insensible to the ever-watchful providence of Almighty God.

Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks…although it’s an attitude we should take on daily, it’s great to be able to take the time…to stop what we’re doing and to give thanks to all God has done in our lives. I realize that there’s also times when giving thanks will take effort but I think taking that minute to reflect on what God has done reminds us that God is still and will always be in control and in that is a reason to be thankful.

Anyway…here’s the line up:
