Update for you guys: I decided that I would not take the route of going straight to medical school right after graduation. Rather, I got real with myself and with the Lord and decided to take a couple years off to gain more medical experience and exposure to patients and physicians. I want to be sure that this is where my passion lies, so yes. You can imagine that I started feeling pretty anxious, because I went from having a plan, to having no plan at all. The original plan was to study for the MCAT right away, take the exam, then apply for medical school. The new plan is “Now what…?”

However recently the Lord opened so many doors for me once I was honest with Him about my feelings of anxiety and insecurity about my future. Of the 3 doors He opened to me, I will share 1. My old friend randomly messaged me one day and asked how I’ve been and I told her I planned on taking a break after graduation to gain more experience and to see if medicine is what I really want to pursue. Shocked, she told me, “Really? My department here is always looking for new graduates that fit the description you just told me.” She happened to be the supervisor in her department at UCSF. We met up to talk more about it and since then I have been working with her on my resume. Whether or not I get the job, the Lord gave me a glimpse of what it’s like when I put my trust in Him despite being in the midst of fog, not knowing exactly where I am called to be. I am excited to see what will happen next, but I wanted to share this news with you all to testify that God is good all the time to each and every one of us. We just need to be sensitive to the blessings He surrounds us with.

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Proverbs 3:5-6

These verses resonate with me so much right now. I pray that if you are going through a time of doubt, anxiety, or insecurity, that you too will meditate on this and get real with God about how you are feeling and trust that He will take care of the rest. I love you all, see you at Jerald’s for practice on Saturday 🙂

This past weekend I was at a retreat with my college fellowship in Truckee. Before leading worship, I felt God pressing on my heart to continue praying and meditating on the name of Jesus. I watched brothers and sisters as leaders washed their feet and prayed for them. At that moment I thought, “So many people are here, all gathered under the name of Jesus.” What a beautiful name it is, the name of Jesus. At His name, evil is cast out, the lame can walk, the blind can see, the unbelieving believe, fear becomes boldness, and ashes are brought to life. When we believe that Jesus is bigger than our problems and we focus on giving praise to our Creator instead of entertaining our worries, we find hope, joy, and peace of mind. This is because we find that there is power in just speaking, singing, praying, and thinking of the name of Jesus. Someone once told me, “If you can’t think of anything to pray about or even how to approach God, just repeat the name ‘Jesus’. The Spirit will lead you the rest of the way.” These are some of the reasons why I want to sing all about the name of Jesus this Sunday! The name above all names, my loving friend and Savior, Jesus Christ. With that, here is my worship set:
