Jackie’s Line Up: August 6, 2017

Well, it’s been a suuuuuuppper long time since I’ve written one of these emails, so happy to be joining you all this Sunday!

As I was working on this lineup my heart and mind were called to the deep theme of love. I think about this a lot – about how I express my love, how it is expressed to me, how I’m hopefully showing my daughter how to love others. Inevitably, as I contemplate these things, I think about God and how to know Him is to truly and definitively know love: “Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.” (1 John 4:8) His great love for us expressed in the way He vehemently pursues us like the one lost sheep is amazing to me. Imagine all that grace and mercy given every day, without hesitation, out of love. It’s beautiful and overwhelming.

With all that in mind, here’s our line up:

As I was spending time on this line up, I thought a lot about the process of worshiping God. At the base of our worship is our love for God and commitment to Him. Worship is the way we get to express ourselves to Him. Musical worship has this interesting dichotomy. We are both public worshipers in a position of leadership, but also private worshipers as God is looking at each of us individually. This carries a fair amount of responsibility because we are not only held accountable for our worship, but we are also held accountable for our leadership of others.

I know it seems like the worship leader or the singers are the most visible and noticed, but the way all of us worship (and how true our worship is) is seen by all. We’re all leaders, no matter our role and so it’s important for us to focus ourselves on the purpose – which is to express our love and gratitude to God.

Thank God for the opportunity to worship Him with music. Also, thank God for all of you and your love for Him. Your worship is always such a blessing and example to me  🙂

Matthew 22 37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[c] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment.

Hope everyone has had a great week so far!  So sorry for the delay in my line up!
Before we dive into this weekend’s set, I just wanted to share this short except from Mark about the greatest commandment given: 28 One of the teachers of religious law was standing there listening to the debate. He realized that Jesus had answered well, so he asked, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?”
29 Jesus replied, “The most important commandment is this: ‘Listen, O Israel! The Lord our God is the one and only Lord. 30 And you must love the Lordyour God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.’[g] 31 The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[h]No other commandment is greater than these.” As we go into this long weekend I pray that we dwell on the love of God and how all-encompassing our command for love is. It requires everything we have and our loving God deserves no less – same goes for each other.  🙂
Here it is:

LO – Better is One Day

Jackie’s Line Up: April 6, 2014

It’s been a really busy start to the month for me. Between work, our upcoming Holy Week celebrations, and many other personal projects I’ve found myself pretty overwhelmed. This happens to all of us from time to time and I’m sure all of you handle it a bit better than I do  🙂
In the midst of all these tasks, I was brought to these verses:
Isaiah 40
He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. 30 Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. 31 But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. God is well aware of our lives. He knows all our responsibilities and the desire we have to serve him and also meet other needs. It’s comforting to know that he’ll provide strength when needed, and also rest when it’s the right time. Hope all of you have renewed strength this week in your lives as we move toward another Sunday together.
