Lately I’ve been seeing modern churches do so much extra things to get the congregation excited about worship, whether it’s through games, strobe lights, confetti and all that grand stuff. And it’s pretty dangerous to believers who get used to that because it could potentially distract them from truly worshipping the Lord.

Sometimes, we need to be reminded that the best kind of worship can be simple, quiet and intimate. The truest kind of worship is when we give the Lord our full attention and our whole heart, emptying ourselves so He can fill us. I pray that when we worship individually on our own time and as a team, that we never lose sight of who were doing it for and why we do it. It’s all about Him and never about us.

“It’s who you are and the way you live that count before God. Your worship must engage your spirit in the pursuit of truth. That’s the kind of people the Father is out looking for: those who are simply and honestly themselves before him in their worship. God is sheer being itself—Spirit. Those who worship him must do it out of their very being, their spirits, their true selves, in adoration.” (John 4: 23-24)

As I was preparing the lineup for this Sunday the Lord really spoke to me about the importance of rest. As we go through our busy schedules each day, we often forget to pause and take a moment to rest. I’m very guilty of that because I often find myself juggling a lot of things at once and get easily overwhelmed. Eventually, we get burnt out or exhausted from the things we are called to do and be a part of whether it’s in church, school, work, and other responsibilities.
28-30 “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” -Matthew 11:28-30 MSG

In the passage, Jesus reminds us that we cannot find the truest kind of peace anywhere else but through Him and in His presence. There are many mentions in the word of Jesus resting in the midst of the chaos going on around Him, and it speaks volumes of the kind of peace that Jesus he possesses. He invites us to go to Him and that itself a promise that He will take care of our worries, our fears and all our doubts. In His presence do we really learn how to rest. Jesus even reassures us that He would never give us anything we cannot handle because He intends to teach us how to live in such a way that reflects our salvation and His grace.

I pray that despite our very busy schedules, that we learn to stop and sit at His feet to rest because there’s truly no other place more peaceful than in His embrace.

“No place I’d rather be than here in Your love.”

This week I was reading a devotional about pursuing Christ and it led me to this passage from Ephesians. It really got me thinking about my relationship with Christ and how it’s so important to be committed when pursuing a relationship with Him.

It started with Him. Because HE FIRST LOVED US. He pursued us first. He was with us even before we knew Him. The more we pursue Him, the more we realize that we can never do it on our own. The more we pursue His heart, the more He reveals to us who we really are. And the more we rely on Him and His word, the more He is glorified through the way we live. My prayer for us is that we always have a heart that seeks Him, longs for Him, and worships Him through different seasons. I pray that we clear our hearts and our minds of any idols and any unnecessary things that distract us from truly worshipping Him.

Ephesians 1:11-19 (MSG)

11-12 It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone.

13-14 It’s in Christ that you, once you heard the truth and believed it (this Message of your salvation), found yourselves home free—signed, sealed, and delivered by the Holy Spirit. This signet from God is the first installment on what’s coming, a reminder that we’ll get everything God has planned for us, a praising and glorious life.

15-19 That’s why, when I heard of the solid trust you have in the Master Jesus and your outpouring of love to all the followers of Jesus, I couldn’t stop thanking God for you—every time I prayed, I’d think of you and give thanks. But I do more than thank. I ask—ask the God of our Master, Jesus Christ, the God of glory—to make you intelligent and discerning in knowing him personally, your eyes focused and clear, so that you can see exactly what it is he is calling you to do, grasp the immensity of this glorious way of life he has for his followers, oh, the utter extravagance of his work in us who trust him—endless energy, boundless strength!

***This past week I also got sick so I don’t fully have my voice to sing. So can I ask for help from my back-up singers if you could lead some  of the songs? My cough is pretty bad and I don’t think my voice can last if I lead all the songs. I would really appreciate it if you could help me out with that. 🙂 ***

Also, please keep my grandma (my dad’s mom) in your prayers. She is currently being monitored in the ICU after experiencing a mild stroke. She’s now able to eat on her own but cannot verbally respond so much.

Lastly, my heart also goes out to Tita Claudette and her family. We’re keeping you in our thoughts and prayers <3
